Spaghetti with Spicy Shaved Brussels Sprouts and Bacon

  • 1 box Dreamfields Spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 slices bacon diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 9 ounces Brussels Sprouts shaved
  • kosher salt
  • pepper
  • zest of one lemon
  • lemon olive oil to drizzle (optional)


  1. Prepare pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water prior to draining. Set pasta aside.
  2. While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in large sauté pan over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crispy. Remove from pan, set aside.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes to pan with bacon drippings. Cook and stir approximately 1 minute. Add Brussels sprouts and lemon zest. Season with salt and pepper, as desired. Add 1/4 cup of pasta water. Cook until Brussels sprouts have softened, stirring as necessary and adding additional pasta water if needed. Remove from heat.
  4. Add drained pasta and bacon to sauté pan. Toss to coat. Garnish with drizzle of lemon oil, if desired.
